The survey, commissioned by the Partnership for New York City, quizzed 500 city drivers and shows that 61 percent of the drivers who would be most impacted by the flat fee oppose it – even after being told that it would cut smog, worked well in London and will pay for mass-transit improvements.
Just over a third, 35 percent, would support the fee, according to the poll conducted by Global Strategy Group.
The survey was taken before Mayor Bloomberg unveiled his proposal to charge motorists $8 to enter Manhattan south of 86th Street between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. [NY Post]
