Peter Light, 48, was also ordered to make restitution to the congregation.
”The wounds you have inflicted have left and will leave real scars” on the community of Congregation Ohev Shalom, the Marlboro Jewish Center, said Superior Court Judge Ira E. Kreizman.
Kreizman, who said that he grew up going to temple and is still active, described the sentencing of a rabbi as ”especially painful but it’s part of my responsibility as a judge.”

In January, Light pleaded guilty to theft as was reported here on Vos Iz Neias. Michael Danziger, the center’s past president, told the judge Light took funds set aside for congregants in need and used it for his own selfish purposes. He said the congregation has been left ”hurting.” ‘We’re unable to trust going forward,” Danzinger said. [APP]
