Brooklyn, NY – Kings County Hospital officers picked a fight with a paralyzed visitor, dumping him out of his wheelchair and screaming at him to get up as he lay helpless in his own urine, according to a federal lawsuit.

Romel Marcus, 23, claims he was handcuffed to the wheelchair for more than an hour following the July 24, 2005, ordeal – causing infections, sores and fevers.
“This is a case of reprehensible abuse of power, under color of law, that converted a place of healing into a torture chamber,” lawyer Ravi Batra said.
An HHC spokeswoman said the agency would not comment.
The lawsuit comes just days after a state advocacy group sued HHC to demand reforms to the psych ward. [NY Post]
