Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY – The stretch of 37th St between 14th and 15th Avenues is one of the most beaten down, dangerous, and difficult to navigate in Brooklyn, according to City Councilman Bill de Blasio. De Blasio led the charge to have the road not only repaved and add sidewalk, as was reported here on Vos Iz Neias, but to have it outfitted with features that are standard in city streets, like street lamps, and proper drainage.

At a press conference held in the middle of 37th St in front of triple parked cars and enormous puddles, Councilman Bill de Blasio, community leaders, and business owners announced that through their efforts, the Department of Transportation had pledged $1.7 million for much needed repairs to the road beneath their feet.
Those who spoke at the press conference also described the neighborhood as “on the rise.” Future plans for the street include a Hatzolah garage, more retail stores, and nearby affordable housing. [brooklyndowntownstar]
