Department of Homeland Security Nonprofit Security Grant Program Workshop.

New York, NY - Nonprofits at high risk of international terrorist attack, which are located in specific areas (including New York City, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk and much of Northern NJ), may apply for grants up to $100,000.

New York State will collect and review applications from eligible nonprofit organizations prior to them being submitted to DHS. In order to meet tight timeframes that DHS has established for this program, the NYS Office of Homeland Security will be accepting applications beginning May 16, 2007 through – 5:00 pm June 8, 2007. Applications and instructions will be made available via the State’s Office of Homeland Security’s website.

Once again, grants will be considered on the basis of identified threats, the symbolic value of a site, the role of a nonprofit in disaster recovery and the findings of a vulnerability assessment.

This year’s grants require a 75%-25% “soft match” and NIMS compliance, which will be explained at the grant workshop.

Learn about the New York State grant application process, see a demo of the online grant system and more. Meet representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, New York State Office of Homeland Security grant office, hear more information about the grant process and ask questions.

*Wednesday, May 16, 2007. 10AM-12 noon*
