Ramapo, NY – The potential environmental impact of a yeshiva with 78 apartments for adult students and their families off Route 306 will be reviewed by the Planning Board next month.
If approved, it would be the second construction of adult student housing in four zones designated by the Town Board.

The first project is nearing completion on Grandview Avenue, where 60 apartments are being built with a yeshiva on almost 4.9 acres.
No applications for the two other sites – the former Patrick Farm off the west side of Route 306 at Route 202, and Highview Road between Spook Rock and College Roads – have been filed with the town.
The Route 306 site, on the north side of Spruce Road would contain 36 two-bedroom units, 24 three-bedrooms, and 18 four-bedroom apartments.
Less than a quarter mile away, at Route 306 and Grandview Avenue, a nonresidential yeshiva is planned for more than 700 students. That’s in the village of New Hempstead.
Justin Schwartz, a resident of the area, said he was concerned about the growing population density of the neighborhood.
At the same time, though, he said he recognized the rights of landowners to develop their property. “I’d like it to stay as the woods,” Schwartz said of the proposed school and apartments, “but it’s private property.” [lohud]
