A statement by the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday that IAEA chief Yukiya Amano plans to convene a forum on the topic on Nov. 21-22.

A related document made available to The Associated Press says Amano “wrote to all member states inviting them to take part in the forum.”

Iran has responded saying it will not attend, said a diplomat familiar with the report, while some Arab states have set conditions for sitting at the same table with Israel.

A successful meeting would improve chances of a major international conference on a nuclear-free Mideast tentatively set for next year.
