Salome Zequeida, 49, faces 15 counts of unauthorized video recording and could get up to five years in prison if convicted.
Assistant State’s Attorney Patricia Fix said Zequeida, of 2595 Waukegan Road, Highland Park, recorded 15 children using the bathroom at Congregation Solel, as was reported here on Vos Iz Neias.
Construction workers at the synagogue discovered the camera and alerted congregation officials.
Circuit Judge John Phillips ordered the police department to make only two copies of the tape, one for prosecutors and one for Zequeida’s defense attorneys. He also said they should not allow anyone not connected to the case to view it.
Waukegan defense attorney Jed Stone told Phillips he is seeking to have his client undergo a psychological evaluation. Phillips said he would amend the order requiring Zequeida to remain at home at all times to allow him to see a doctor. [Daily Herald]
