The study done by the U.S. Geological Survey shows Brooklyn has only 4,000 cubic meters of unpaved space per person. Considering that only 8% of Brooklyn’s 70.6 square miles is park space.
The results are not surprising to Brooklyn’s Borough President Marty Markowitz. “We are a borough that is increasingly dwindling in terms of open space, no question,” Markowitz said, adding that the borough is always trying to find more green space for its 2.4 million residents. [NY Daily News]
