Amid growing concern over a possible naval confrontation in the Mediterranean, the State Department said Friday that both sides should exercise restraint and avoid provocative actions or rhetoric. Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the “cool it” message was being delivered to both Turkish and Israeli officials.

Concern intensified on Friday after Turkey said it would send naval warships to escort future aid boats leaving its territory for Gaza to prevent a repeat of last year’s deadly Israeli raid on an aid flotilla. Israel said such a move would be “grave and serious.”

Turkey has demanded an apology for the 2010 raid, which Israel has refused to give.

    excuse me

Israel is not doing anything it is turkey who is looking for fight or gain brownie point with radical Islam

Israel can be sorry people where killed however they needed to do what they did
the real blame rests with the people on the boat who where armed and ready showing they where not the peaceniks they claimed to be and just went there to feed the Palestinian they where looking for a confrontation they got it, and lost

unfortunately, it was clever and put Israel in a no win position diplomatically

Why tell Israel to “cool it” when they have been the recipient of the Turkish looney bin’s foul diatribe? Did you hear anybody from the Israeli goverment respond inkind?

Telling Israel and Turkey to cool it??
I’m not sure what Israel needs to “cool”.
Sounds like some more of the old “moral equilency” to me

The cool it message to Israel was referring to what they told the US they would do if Turkey will in fact send their naval ships. So to all Obama bashers: COOL IT
