The NYPD said that it had received 302 suspicious package reports — all unsubstantiated — starting Friday through 7:30 a.m. Sunday. There 82 last year.

New York routinely sees jumps in such reports in response to terror threats or news of thwarted plots. Authorities warned last week that they were investigating a potential al-Qaida car-bomb threat tied to the anniversary.

In recent days, city officials have asked New Yorkers to be extra vigilant.
