The U.S. Justice Department says Friday seven state attorneys general have signed onto the antitrust lawsuit to block the deal.

Along with New York, Washington, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania were added to the amended lawsuit in federal court in Washington, D.C.

The department says the attorneys general have assisted throughout the investigation of the proposed merger.

Schneiderman says Friday the concerns are higher prices, worse service and less access to new technologies in New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, the Capital Region and Syracuse.

    This is INSANE.
What is happening to our country? Why is something illegal because they think it may “reduce competition”? Even if they disagree with the principals, why is it illegal? Why is stopping a company from growing good for the economy?
Have these people ever heard of free market economics, Adam Smith, and what our country’s economy was founded on?

This is not about a monopoly, but about making sure our prices don’t go down. AT&T would be able to cut our prices by more than 25% by combining networks. That is something the others do not like.
