Ads posted in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh are announcing the establishment of a special committee against the sect’s members.

The ads claim that the sect members torture their children for education purposes.

The committee members are threatening to impose sanctions on the sect’s women: “We will boycott the women leading this rebellious sect and publish their names and addresses.”

The radical sect emerged about five years ago, and is said to include some 300 women in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh, many of them newly religious.

The ads include a telephone and fax number for any information about these women. They are signed by the “committee against the cruel women’s sect.”

Aren’t they copying the clothing of the goyim? Looks like either what nuns used to wear years ago or what some Moslim women wear today.

how are these things decided, whats too much and what isn’t?
Also, its quite clear that our style of dress is deeply influenced by European sensibilities, so I don’t get what these women are doing wrong.
I have to assume that if men adapted some strange chumra, no one would say boo

It seems like the objection to them is because of the child abuse and not because of Tzniyus. I would think that over the top Tzniyus would be applauded in the Chareidi world as the obsession with it in the Bais Yaakovs might eventually lead to this.

The Torah forbids us from wearing clothing specifically identifiable as a garment they wear. Therefore it is prohibited to dress like that which makes a kitrug on Jewish women. It is wrong just like Zionism is wrong.

This is just as abusive to women as the Tzinius Goon Squads who attack women for not dressing modeslty enough. When will the meshugaim (and their askanim and rabonim) realize that women have the absolute right to dress as they wish and men cannot decide that for them. Too much or too little skin showing is a women’s decision alone and anyone who seeks to dictate to them will suffer the consequences.

You have to be honest with yourself are you ighting them because they are radical or because you don’t want to follow their lead so you bring them down.
Furthermore, what’s more necessary a war against too-tzniusdige women or waging war against chassidishe women who wear thin stockings, too much makeup, tight clothes and flashy jewelry. Tere’s more of the latter than the former. So let’s correct our dress code first then we’ll worry about the women who are overdressed. Please get your priorities straight.

It’s weird, dressing like nuns, but to each her own. Better than dressing like street women. I’m more curious about how they “torture their children”…

Leave these women alone. They are dressing tzniiusdig so let it be. You want to fight against women, come to flatbush or parts of Boro park where women are wearing skirts above their knees with shaitels. These modern types should be put in their place not the tzneius ones in Jerusalem.

If the ugly old hags want to spare us from having to gaze at their ugliness, I say Yashar Koach! And if the haredim say it’s asur meshoom b’hookosayhem lo taleychu, then I say there’s not much difference between fundamentalists, Jewish or Islamic.

This woman is not dressed like an Arab woman. The arabs wear a single loose fitting garment and a headscarf but often in colors. This is idiocy in our climate. These women wear multiple layers and always black. This is simply not healthy in our heat. You never see them take a sip of water and that’s also very dangerous. This woman has on a heavy abeyah with a cape over it and GLOVES????????? We lose or retain about 25% of our body heat thru our heads and wearing a tightly wrapped black scarf is nuts. I dress modestly but if it’s close to 90º out, covering my head at all is a real hardship. So yes, you can dress TOO tzinusdik.

There are 2 aspects of modest. One is that the basic parts of the woman are covered; this these women do. Second is that the woman does not stick out; this these ladies do not do since their radical form of dress causes them to stick out from the rest.

If I am not mistaken, I recall seeing in one mescheta, that women who are overly t’zinus are hiding something (like past sexual experiences) since it is the internal desire of normal woman to want to look nice.

These woman forgot that a woman may not stick out amongst others on the street!!i live in israel and whenever i see them i notice the men looking at them!is that called tznius??!!they’ve got it all wrong!!!their cloaks flap around like eagles wings on the street….i’m a heimishe woman who dresses normal and tznius’dig.i dont wear tight clothes which also make men stare at.Why cant people just be NORMAL??!!in this generation people are bored and are looking for new ways to get attention from others……how sad!!this is NOT WHAT HASHEM WANTS FROM US!!!!!

They look Aimish or muslim ( from ethiopia)
    This neeeds to stop.

The Halachic definition of Tznius stipulates that anything that attracts undue attention to a woman is un-tznius. The idea is that women should dress iin a way that does not encourage men to stare at them in public. These women might as well be wearing flourescent orange bikinis ! Everyone stares at them because they look so strange. There are also many people who would say the same about pea-green bullet proof tights ! Frum women need to use common sense and dress in a MODEST manner which means in a way where they blend in to the crowd and do not attract attention.

The problem is the child abuse. There have been a few high profile cases of these women who allowed their children to be beaten, scalded with hot water, burned with irons, etc. as a form of “correction” or “tikkun”.

isn’t this loshon hora that they abuse their children? shouldn’t you bring proof before alleging something like this? I thought this was a frum site, and now I wonder about your motives for publishing this! Are you trying to achieve achdus or make another split? It’s Elul, think about it!

I remeber when this 1st started. The main issue was that their men went to bdatz and other respected Rabbis in EY and complained about this. These women they don’t listen to them or their husbands therefore the war is on. They should dress like the rest of all and take care of there husbands and kids

    The problem here is simple.

People don’t like to be less Frum than their neighbor. In other words, people are uncomfortable when someone appears more religious than they do. If someone for example, reads only the KOSHER newspapers (without Hillary’s face) so that makes the rest of us feel like Skootzim. We don’t like that.

If someone, only uses laundry detergent with a Badatz Hechsher, it makes us feel like “trefnyakes” We don’t like that.

If someone wears a white shirt 24/7 it makes us colored folks feel like bums. We don’t like that.

Same here. If someone goes over the top with their Tznius, the Frume Rebbetzins don’t like it. It makes them feel inferior, less Frum when in fact they thought they had the monopoly on frumkeit and modesty, i.e bulletproof stockings, hat over a sheitl, shaved head etc.

    Reflect and accept.

The fact that these women are mal-adjusted baalei teshuva who are gross ‘am-Haratzim’ is for another post.

I saw one of these women in Monsey in the dentist’s office. She looked like a giant bat and everyone couldn’t stop looking at her….not sure if that’s the goal of tznius exactly. What I found really interesting was that she had a smartphone and was texting like crazy….isn’t that verboten??

when these women walk in frum neighborhoods they attract attention. and attracting attention is not tzenua.

If I buy a jilbab from a Muslim store to wear as a Shabbos robe what is wrong with that? These garments look exactly like the Shabbos robes that you buy in Boro Park, except that I live much closer to Dearborn than to Boro Park.

The way that frum women-chassidish, litvish, chassidish withit , flatbush, modern litvish….whatever u want to call them is a really sad situation…im with it too but my how the standards hav sunk soooo low…from the llength to the tightnes…some women look like street walkers…i was in a popular womens clothing store last week -& i hear these 2 loud women asking the owner “we need skintight dresses….”i was cringing….at least dont say it out loud in elul…so the owner says ” i hav even better-this is second skin…”uch…& im not some yeshivish chasidishe nerd (i also need some improvemnebt but this ws 2 much…) then they went on to say how they want leather skirts & fur its the hottest thing now…everyone will b wearing it to shul….oy vey! seriously! im not pro vaad hatzniyus but there is a new movement of “acceptable” dress codes tht wld make our ansectors cry…(btw…the day after i saw my 2 frum neighbors wearing slits ..i decided to try it…geuss wht w/i 5 min. i fell & sprained my foot..

Maybe if everybody who sees one of these women would stop, stare and take a picture with their phons, without saying a word to them, they would see the folly of their actions. But remember, without saying one word! Try it.

Guess what people? WHO CARES? live and let live. no need to raise your blood pressure. we are surrounded by mushugaim, and this will never change. Someone will always show up with some new chumra. I dont know about the rest of you, but I dont care anymore. However, I expect the same courtesy from them. Don’t ever come and tell me that my shirt has to be white or that I cant wear jeans, etc.

Can this “special committe” also fight the Lakewood school Taliban, where little girls are being sent home in middle of the day because their skirts aren’t 4 inches below the knee? Rebonnoi shel oilam!

There are so many people who insist that an integral part of tznius is “not being different or standing out” so please explain, why can’t frum girls wear slacks? Everybody wears slacks nowadays, and it is certainly much more tznius than wearing a short skirt. If it is slacks specifically designed for a woman (side zipper) then it can’t be considered a “beged ish.”

BTW: I don’t wear slacks, but most of the woman at my (mod-ortho) shul do. Can someone please explain why “not standing out” is the ikker of tznius, so why can’t this include wearing slacks?

This is a cult and not a tznius way of dressing, they totally bring attention to them selves I know a few women in Israel that got caught up in this, it ended when the woman was charged with child abuse. Their husbands did not ahve a say the way they dressed. They did it anyway.

the funniest part about the sad state of our tzniyus these days…is that most of the husbands either learn in kollel and 2 that i know of are rosh kollel…yet their wives look, dress and act like they are competing with lindsy lohan, brittney spears and the rest…..im all for looking good…but there is a limit….where r the husbands? maybe they want their wives to dress this way? my husband tells me all the time….the skirts too short…..and so on…and im like…lets take a tour of certain neighborhoods….(wont say loshon hara in Elul- u all know where u r..) its a shanda…the fact that certain things tht are outright against halacha became acceptable and the “norm”……please dont wear a burka….just dress repectably….u dont have to look like the secular…you never will anyway….and even if u do…anti semtism wont stop because of ur good looks….(hitler went back generations to non frum jews..)
yes- men should control themselves….but women- do u really want other men thinking of u?! especially married women?! yuch!! if ur husband is not giving u the attention ur craving…perhaps its time to go for marriage couseling rather than seeking it from the street….
