Education officials say there are exceptions, but student absences will make it more difficult to get official student counts.
According to the Denver Post (http://bit.ly/mQ2J8Z), educators are worried some students may miss classes during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, which occur over the next two weeks during official student counts.
The absences could cost schools about $6,400 per pupil on average.
These educators should realize that Yom Kippur is on Shabbos this year and there is no school missed that day. Also, Why is this year different from all other years?
This summary doesn’t at all reflect the referenced article. The state sets the date for counting students, and this year that happens to be RH. There’s a workaround. A school official is quoted as saying, “It’s no problem. It’s a tad more work. Schools are used to it. They will get the money.”
Since Yom Kippur is on Shabbos, I don’t think they’ll have student absences since the kids aren’t in school that day, And how many kids will take off for Sukkot who go to public school? Something’s fishy with this argument.
nobody is forcing you to live in Galut. Here in the State of Israel we don’t have these issues. Time to come home, but we only want you if you will be productive members of society, i.e. Tzahal & working
This year’s kvi’us is the same as last year. Ma nishtana?
What about all of the days which are lost, when the students take over two weeks off for the Christmas and Easter breaks? Does the school district also address that?
