Beijing – A fast-food restaurant called Obama Fried Chicken was derided in America yesterday as a racist rip-off.

Its sign shows a grinning caricature of President Obama’s head on a skinny version of Colonel Sanders’ body.
Below it, written in Chinese, is the slogan: “We’re so cool, aren’t we?”
“It’s insulting, offensive and plays to racial stereotypes,” the Rev. Al Sharpton told The Post.
“What makes it even worse is that when we deal with this global competition between the US and China, for them to be mocking the leader of the free world, I find it even more appalling.”
“You can’t degrade the president like that,” Momodou Jallow, 43, said. “It’s sketched that way to make fun of Obama so people will buy fried chicken.
“How can you take [Colonel Sanders’] body and put Obama’s head on it and call it OFC? It’s disrespectful,” he said.
If it was Bush, no one would think twice. But now that the President is Black? Uh, why should we have a double standard? Oh wait, we already have one for college applications, job interviews, law school apps…..
It might be wrong to put Obama’s head there, but I never understood what’s the big deal with stereo typing black ppl eating fried chicken, I don’t get offended with ppl saying we eat pita and chumus
The disrespectful (Al) defending one (Obama) who gives improper respect to his title. They will never get the concept that respect is earned by one’s own behavior and not thru demand for it.
I don’t see anything wrong with the sign. There are political caricatures which appear in newspapers all over the world, of various political figures. What is Sharpton going to do? Is he going to lead a demonstration in Beijing? He won’t get away with it there, as he did in Crown Heights. Also, is he going to object to Uncle Ben’s Rice, and Aunt Jemima Pancakes, with the associated photos? Please!!
I think, he should go down and protest and shouldnt come back until all the racial issues are taken care of, on that part of the globe.
To everyone saying this is “no big deal” when things like this happen to African Americans…
I doubt many of you would find the joke so funny if another culture did this about Jews!
Imagine it! A wanna-be kosher establishment set up someplace in Europe or Asia, with a big picture of a Hasidic Jew on the front, w\typical Jewish stereotypes being portrayed in the picture & etc.

You know, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Sharpton may be a (expletive deleted) but he’s right on this one. Not only is the caricature racially offensive (What would the Chinese say if a caricature and the name of their leader were used for a chinese take-out place), but it is disrespectful to the President of my country and, therefore, indirectly insulting to me. What ever you think of President Obama, he is the President. Politics stops at the water’s edge.
He knows darn well that there is one in NY. That’s why he started the whole ruckus.

In first chapter of chapter of the fathers the Rabbis of the mishna taught to judge every person favorably. Maimonides explains that this refers to a situation where you don’t know the person and see him do something which can be interpreted as good or bad, here the Rabbis say to judge piously and assume he acted properly. If however you see someone who you know is righteous do something which seems almost certainly improper but there is still a small chance that did nothing wrong, we are required to assume he acted properly. Conversely when we see an evil man do something which is almost certainly good but there is a small chance he was acting improperly, we must believe he acted improperly. He brings passage in proverbs 26 25.
Al Sharpton is a racist hate monger who started a riot which resulted in the death of a person. When he mentions anti black racism its not to make America a land of equal opportunity, its because he wants America to hand the country over to the black people as reparation for having enslaved them. The only reason he wasn’t a member of the black panthers is because he is a coward. His belly is yellow, not black.

Al Sharpton just waits for this type of situation to come along so that he can get get some press time. The press/media in America just loves to give this race baiter some time.
If Mr. Sharpton really cared for his people he would be out on the cruel streets of NYC every day making an honest attempt to stop the never ending violence that is prevelent in his communities. He plays the old blame everyone but your own game very well and the media just eats it up.
If Al cared about his own he would be raising his voice to help his people on the African Continent that are dying each day from starvation and violence. The OFC is non issue brought to the media’s attention to get his face and name on to TV and into the newspapers. Take the cameras away and Al will go away…
