Israeli President Shimon Peres (C) accompanied of Israeli Chief Rabbis (L) and local Sheikhs inspects a mosque in northern Israel which was torched overnight in the Bedouin village of Tuba Zangaria, located in the Upper Galilee, on 03 October 2011. Vandals torched the mosque in northern Israel in a suspected revenge attack by right-wing extremists that sparked a 'furious' response from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. EPA/MENAHEM KAHANA / POOLIsrael - Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar on Monday said that the mosque arson that took place in Tuba Zangria overnight Sunday may have been a blood libel, Army Radio reported on Monday, citing an interview on a haredi radio station.

“We have experience in these things in the past. We cannot be sure that there was not some malicious plan to stir up hatred between Jews and Arabs,” Amar was quoted as saying.

What an absolutely inane moronic comment. Sadly an unsurprising viewpoint considering the thing we have in common with the extremist Arab world is the belief in conspiracy theories when we can't face the truth. Wake up folks. The stupidity and violence will only get worse

You may be right except there was a report about a month or 2 ago about how the shin beth uncovered a Palestinian plot to burn mosques and other muslim sites and killing muslim people and blaming it on the "extreme right wing settlers". Do your research and you will see that he's not to far off point

Maybe you are interpreting his comments exactly backwards, I think he meant a blood libel by the YIDDEN who committed this despicable act that would have triggered hatred by the arabs against jews and stirred up more fighting and thereby destroying any chance for a peace settlement. Amar is not blind and he would never make such a dumb comment that somehow the act was the result of palestinians burning down their own mosque and blaming it on jews.

And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. A blood libel is ALWAYS committed by non-jews, making it look like the dastardly act had been comitted by Jews (Jewish history 101).

I think that is exactly what Amar meant and he simply used the wrong term. Anyone who is aware of the facts here wouldn't take it any other way. Your naive view that Yidden would never set up the arabs to make them look bad is simplistic beyond belief or else you are supporting the group promoting these terrorist actions against the Palestinians.

Sarah Palin would disagree.

Theories are cheap, but a good story needs a plausible motive. Barak and his lefties want to sell Israel to the Arabs. He already sold off Gaza. The Israeli public needs to be fired up against the right wingers to such an extent, that Israel will be prepared to give up East Jerusalem to stop the impending intifada, arranged between barak and Abas. A good start is getting some mercenary leftists to fire up the mosque, thus justifying riots and forcing a surrender.

No, that's not what he meant. He meant that the Arabs who have done it before, are capable of doing it again. When has a Jew committed a blood libel. Shame on you.

I have made the exact point that the Rabbi made, in a previous story comment.

For you to castigate the Rabbi in a demeaning fashion, speaks volumes to your affiliations. You are either a self hating Jew, or just a Jew hater, if you can't see the possibility, or better yet, the probability of non-Jews perpetuating

no a stupid comment is a stupid comment.

a rabbi is human and no matter how great can also do and say stupid things

they are not infallible unless you think they are like popes

That is exactly the problm with the frum velt. We now have not one but hundreds of popes. Every rosh yeshiva or rebbe or even a slightly more prominent than usual pulpit rav suddenly is infallible and to question anything they say will get you accused of being an apikores, a self-hater, a (gasp!) non-Jew, etc. The Torah world gets more close-minded and intolerant by the day.

# 13 wrote:" Barak and his lefties want to sell Israel to the Arabs." What an idiotic comment. I may not agree with Barak's political views, but the man is a military hero who has devoted his life to Israel. His children, extended family, friends, colleagues, etc., all live in Israel -- why would he want to sell it to the Arabs? You make no sense, but unfortunately you typify the right-wing lunatics who believe that if you disagree with them politically you're a sell-out or a self-hater or an enemy of Israel. Grow a brain, please.

Arabs do not love life, nor love their children the way normal people do. (See Hagar distancing herself from Ishmael) They are a cold cruel vicious people (pereh adam) who would readily sacrifice their children to Molech as suicide bombers, and celebrate their death. With this said, why is it so hard to believe that they set these fires themselves to make teh Jews look bad?

Of course. If it makes Jews look bad Jews didn't do it. It was a plot by Gentiles to destroy their own property and places of worship to make Jews look bad.

Here is the thing. You remember when the world trade center was attacked? Some in the Arab world blamed the Jews for the attack as a way to get the US fired up against the Arabs. You believe that? On the other hand it is pretty hard to believe that Arabs would set their own mosque on fire. Unless it was the mosque that they don't go to. You like with the Jews, there is the synagogue that they go to and the one they don't. So maybe this was the mosque that those Arabs wouldn't be caugth dead in?

The mosque they torched was the one "they wouldn't be caught dead in". It's not the one they attend services at. That's the one down the street.
