The state had previously warned against eating any walleye from the lake and to limit meals of other fish and small bass to no more than one per month.
Residents are also advised not to eat more than one meal per month of American eel, bluegill, or redbreasted sunfish from the Valatie Kill in Columbia and Rensselaer Counties due to PCB levels. The same regulations apply for carp from the Mohawk River. [AP]

Don’t worry – there is no commercial fishing in Onandaga lake so the carp won’t make their way to Brooklyn. This lake was used as a dump for years by chemical companies and other manufacturers. No one who knows the lake would ever think of fishing there.
