Drivers told The Seattle Times (http://bit.ly/nJXLzAthey were sent home last week for praying. Teamsters Local 117, which represents the workers, is trying to get them back on the job.

I can imagine the “gevalts” if c’v they had fired a frum yid who got out of his cab in a parking area and quietly davened because it was z’man and he didn’t have time to do it earlier because he had a long trip with a passenger in the cab. They should cut some slack for yidden and muslims to daven since they have the same chiyuv for prayer in certain time windows. The prayers of a muslim have the same imperative and kedushah to him/her as those of a yid.

So clock out. As a Jew we don’t expect somebody to pay for our time davening. Hashem will provide for us. Seems like this Moslem don’t have faith in their prayers

For those not reading properly, the problem wasn’t the praying, it was that they didn’t clock out for it – i.e. they expected to be paid for the praying time.

I believe there is some kind of law about employees can request time to pray.

They already had this issue and reached an agreement to clock out. Not clocking out was chutzpah or an incitement.
Why are there so many Moslems watching coming and going at all airports. Sounds like a lot of drivers of one faith at one airport.

The title of this article is inflammatory and does not accurately depict the issue here. The headline should read:

Workers Who Remained On-The-Clock During Personal Breaks In Violation Of Company Policy – FIRED!

This has nothing to do with religion or anything else. You do NOT have the right to get paid for taking care of your personal business. The NERVE of these cheats and thieves to hide behind their faith!

If Jews or xians were doing this I would feel the EXACT same way. They were stealing from their employer and they got caught and fired. I support Hertz 100% on this.

And if they’re praying in an area where there is no time clock what to do ?

Shmuel, your racist attitude rings out loud and clear. Have you ever taken the time to meet a Muslim and have a converstion with him? Most of them are average joes, just like you and I – they worry about their kids and inflation and mortgage payments. They bathe just as frequently as the rest of us. If you have nothing constructive to say, then you shouldn’t say it. BTW, I will bet that when you return home after walking to and from shul on a hot Shabbat in your dark wool suit, that you don’t smell so sweet yourself.
