Lakewood, NJ – Heavy smoke and flames were showing when firefighters arrived at 412 Arlington Avenue 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Lakewood Fire Chief Rodney Youmans. It took about 45 minutes of battling the blaze before the fire was declared under control, Youmans said. The general alarm fire required all five Lakewood companies to respond.

About six people were in the home when the fire broke out, officials said.
No one was injured and the occupants of the home had already evacuated when police arrived, said Police Sgt. Joseph Goertz.
The displaced persons relocated to neighbor’s homes and the Red Cross was not contacted, Youmans said.
Probably a ner in the bedroom for yom kipur
B’h no one was hurt. Isn’t there a shul nearby on Arlington Ave. right near Wynat street?
To #2 : It was not from a “ner” it was from an exhaust fan which overheated.
To #1 : yes the fire was a stones throw away from the shul.
Exhaust fan motors are a common cause of house fires. Those fans, especially older ones or ones containing cheaper model motors, are NOT designed or intended to be left on for very long periods of time (like 25 hrs. over Yom Tov). Please remember to turn them off after no more than an hour or so – or before Shabbos/Yom Tov, which ever comes first.
Does anyone know the name or contact information to help the family with donations of clothes, books, toys, or money or anything?
