www.LocalSukkah.org was created as a service to the Jewish community of Melbourne, Australia in 1994 and currently includes listings for Sukkahs in twenty two countries including Korea, Guatemala, Greece and Czechoslovakia. Originally intended to provide an appropriate lunch venue for those who had to work on Chol Hamoed, the LocalSukkah app, released just days ago, was added to make finding the nearest sukkah that is open to the general public easier than ever.

“The App was put together by some friends of mine who saw the advantage of having an app,” the coordinator of LocalSukkah.org explained to VIN News. “They convinced me that it was time to move the service to the next rung, to keep up with changes in technology. In present times, almost everything we need as Jews is readily available. The App makes it much easier to find a Sukkah nearby, as it uses GPS to determine your location.”

So far this year, LocalSukkah.com has 388 sukkahs listed, but sukkah registration remains open until Hoshana Raba. All sukkahs listed in the directory have been confirmed as available to the public this year by LocalSukkah.com and all Sukkahs in the area are listed as well as any available details about the Sukkah, regardless of the owner’s religious affiliations.

The new app is available for free download at both the App Store and Android Market.

To register a Sukkah with LocalSukkah.com, send an email with all applicable details to [email protected].
