New York, NY – As anti-corporate protests continue around Wall Street, Mayor Bloomberg said today that he will allow them to stay indefinitely — as long as they follow the law.
“The bottom line is — people want to express themselves. And as long as they obey the laws, we’ll allow them to,” said Bloomberg as he prepared to march in the Columbus Day Parade along Fifth Avenue.

“If they break the laws, then, we’re going to do what we’re supposed to do: enforce the laws.”
Asked how long he would allow the thousands of Occupy Wall Street protests to continue in Zuccotti Park, Bloomberg said he didn’t know.
Why is legal to takeover a public park and stay after closing hour’s anyways I hope the liberal’s in Manhattan enjoy them as long as they don’t come parking in front of my place
Bloomberg’s smart. He knows that a lot of these “protesters” are from out of town and have money, so he’s hoping that they’ll patronize NYC stores and such while they’re in town. They’re essentially tourists – why would he chase them away? A true Yiddisher kup.
The park is a private park not a public park
Bloomberg will let them stay until they smoke a cigarette and eat some transfats. Then they’ll be in real trouble
He knows that if he goes after them, they will look like heroes. After a while the movement will fizzle out and they will look like a bunch of losers.
I think that it’s funny how Bloomberg made billions from the same corporate greed that they are protesting against.
Reminder: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” And the NYS Constitution: ” No law shall be passed abridging the rights of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government, or any department thereof as long as they are peaceful.”
The “Take Back Wall Street” crowd is squarely in First Amendment & NYS Constitutional space as they are peacefully assembling and petitioning for a redress of grievances.
This is a private park partially owned by his pilegesh to whom these vermin are paying rent. They seem to be ok with this part of capitalism.
