Bethel, NY – Two Arrested for Burglarizing Hasidic Bungalow Colony

    Bethel, NY – State Police have arrested two people on charges that they stole copper from a Hasidic residential community in Bethel.

    William Lewis, 26, and Katherine Young, 31, were spotted Sunday by the caretaker stealing copper piping and then followed in his car, state police say. The two were eventually stopped in the City of Middletown and arrested by troopers in the Wurtsboro barracks.

    They were arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $15,000 bail each.

    They also stole over 30 Air Condition condenser units. They were cought after a 30 minute chase by the caretaker and state police by exit 119 on the NY 17

    I don’t get it….the bungalow colonies were unoccupied so whats the big deal. They weren’t targeting this location because the residents were chassidish or Litvashe.

    oh my goodness, theivery and vandalizing are criminal offfenses. of course they should be arrested and so on.
