Washington – Obama: Martin Luther King Would Have Approved of ‘Occupy Wall Street’

Washington – As President Obama spoke Sunday at the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial, he sought to link the civil rights leader to the ongoing anti-Wall Street protests.

If he were alive today, I believe he would remind us that the unemployed worker can rightly challenge the excesses of Wall Street without demonizing all who work there; that the businessman can enter tough negotiations with his company’s union without vilifying the right to collectively bargain, Obama said.

The Wall Street issue — which Obama is likely to cite during this week’s bus trip through North Carolina and Virginia — surfaced as the president talked about how King’s teachings might apply at a time “when our politics appear so sharply polarized, and faith in our institutions so greatly diminished.”

President Obama is a LIAR!!! MLK said quite CLEARLY that the way to “protest” for civil rights was NOT to be disruptive or violent. Obviously the Chief Shakrin didn’t really LISTEN to MLK’s speeches!

    This guy MUST go!

If MLK jr approved of OWS, I would not be too supportive of MLKjr. This protest is designed as a method of anarchy and should be moved to the nations capitals and only there.

Yes. He caused plenty of trouble. I remember, where he joined a strike of sanitation workers, and threatened to cause even more upheaval. There was a lot of turmoil in all the places he visited. What’s more. The face of black anti-Semitism started showing, in spite of all the liberal Jews joining the Civil Rights movement. One of the most visible individuals in all the marches was Reform rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. When Martin Luther King (Jr.) was asked about anti-Jewish expressions among his supporters, he conceded that there are some anti-Semites in his group. All of this may be forgotten history and not politically correct to be mentioned in 2011, but it all transpired in real time.

This is the last nail in the coffin for the occupy wall street movement. With such high disaproval rating, an endorcement from president means that the movement is basically dead.

“Approve”? He would have been there from the beginning. Dr. King was a strong believer in economic justice and the corrosive effect of money and power together.

Where does he come off telling the world what dead people WOULD HAVE SAID? If they cant talk for themselves, NO ONE should talk for them.
