While opponents plan to appeal the rulings, the decisions allow the builders to start applying for construction-related permits from the town.

Acting Supreme Court Justice Thomas Walsh found the Planning Board and Town Board followed land-use and planning regulations and state environmental laws when approving a Monsey-based developer’s highly dense development along routes 202 and 306 outside Pomona.

The developers, Yechiel Lebovits, his sons and Abraham Moscovits of Scenic Development LLC, bought the land for $7.5 million in June 2001 when it was zoned for one single-family house per acre.

Their plan calls for multifamily units comprising 314 townhouses, 72 condominiums and 24 rental apartments for people involved in volunteer services. Townhouses, at one point, were priced from $300,000 to $500,000; the single-family houses could cost $800,000.

    Single families for 800,000?
Go out of town and own a beautiful 4-5 bedroom for 1/3 of the price and a 1/4 of the taxes! I mean really, what is the advantage of living like this? Yapchick and 18 types of herring?
I urge you to be open minded.
A former NY’er turned out of towner and loving it.
