Jerusalem – Turkish PM Requests Israel’s Help

    26

An aerial view taken from a helicopter shows rescue teams trying to salvage people from a collapsed building after a powerful earthquake rocked eastern Turkey, in Ercis district in Van, on 25 October 2011. More than 1,000 people were likely to have been killed in an earthquake as powerful as the one that struck 23 October in eastern Turkey, experts from the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute said at a press conference broadcast on Turkish TV. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was flying from Istanbul to the province of Van, the epicenter of the earthquake whose preliminary magnitude, according to the US Geological Survey, was 7.3. EPAJerusalem – Israel’s defense minister says Israel will help Turkey aid earthquake victims “as soon as possible,” after Turkey accepted Israel’s offer of assistance.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a statement Tuesday that “special aid” will be sent to Turkey. He did not elaborate.

A ministry spokesman said Turkey asked for emergency housing units, and Israel was checking what else it could do. There was no immediate comment from Turkey.

The two countries were once close allies, but Turkey has shifted to seeking a wider Mideast role while harshly criticizing Israel.

Israel offered aid just after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck Sunday, killing hundreds.

Israel often sends rescue teams to world earthquake sites. In 1999, Israeli teams helped dig people out of the rubble after a huge earthquake hit Turkey.

Ok everyone… I KNOW people are going to throw virtual tomatoes for this one, but hear me out:

Perhaps sending aid is one of the BEST things that we can do right now, during this time of world spiritual crisis. I mean, SERIOUS spiritual crisis! Everywhere!

I think when HaShem punishes “the nations” before us all… we ought to use the time to reflect on the fact that: (a) it could have been the Jewish Nation, (b) it at least could have been yourself, or someone(s) that you love, and (c) HaShem is testing ME right now… to see my reaction to this crisis.

What is my response? Will I cheer in the streets & dance a jig over their bloodshed & tragedy, and therefore… behave as THEY do, when one of *us* is injured?

Or will I do the righteous thing, extend aid, pray for the innocents over there & ask HaShem to open their eyes so that we can speed up the process of rebuilding the 3rd Temple?

    We’ve TRIED war & hate & violence & ego.

Maybe it’s time to try praying & humbleness & self-reflection.

I don’t know why HaShem struck Turkey… I just know I was at first glad it didn’t happen where MY children live.

Yes, I’m selfish too. (lol) But I try not rub HaShem’s nose in it.

The pathetic fact remains that Israel is desperately trying to appease those turkish dogs, who will now use them, and immediately thereafter ABuse them once again….

For israel this might be a chance to be at peace with turkey and save some face, make no mistake , specially commenter #4 , israel is extremly isolated now, and they would love for turkey to be on their side, but they can’t efford to apologize so this might be instead a way for turkey to say I forgive you, and israel not have to apologize because we all know that when someone will do anýthing because the other party does not apologize (turkey), and the other party will do everything not to apologize,(israel) and in between both are losing is a ego fight.

Let’s see if one of Erdogan’s erstwhile Islamic friends, i.e., Syria, Iran, Egypt will send any help. The only thing they ordinarily send is rhetoric.

“Mi K’amcha Yisroel”….after being betrayed by Turkey and then dragged through the mud in the media, Israel immediately jumps to help Turkey in its efforts to recover from a major earthquake. I feel this is a tremendous Kiddush Hashem and I am very proud of Israel’s actions on Turkey’s behalf.

While I would never presume to believe that I understand the actions of Hakodesh Boruch Hu, can this not be interpreted as Divine Intervention to show the world how Israel cares for humanity even in the face of hatred? If only the world would open its eyes and see what is in front of them.

Paraphrasing a legendary phrase: “Save them all, let G-d sort them out!”

I posted this on a forum after the 2006 tsunami when someone suggested that no donations should be made that would benefit Indonesia because of that country’s harsh stand against Israel and Jews in general. I repeat it here for much the same reason.

Forget all the talk about helping Turkey and the lofty ideals of good neighborliness expressed by the low life Israeli politicians. How do you think the Israeli Home Front rescue squads get their training in case they should chas veshalom ever be needed at home? That is why they are so anxious to go to Turkey and it is the best reason I can think of.

Shame on some of these remarks, which show a lack of compassion for other human beings, who are suffering. When EY asked for help last year, for aerial firefighting equipment to put out a huge forest fire, Turkey sent in planes to fight the fire, as did other countries. EY has assisted Turkey in the past, pertaining to other earthquakes, and this time will be no exception.

G-D’s message here is simple. Nations of the world, look how even the irreligious people of my nation act. They show compassion and offer aid to the worst of their enemies. The world brutally murders, and terrorizes my people while they barely cling to life and offer compassion and aid to their murderers — even the lowest of my people. Hashem is reaffirming why we are still the only ones that deserve the torah and olam haba.
