Ramapo put the property back on the tax roll last week after rejecting the congregation’s claims of federal tax-exempt status.
The congregation argued in documents filed with the town that there was no legal basis for denying the exemption from property taxes.
Assessor Scott Shedler said the property was assessed at $597,500, which could mean that Tartikov would owe about $100,000 in property taxes. [Journal News]
Why cant they be like everyone else in the world? The Shul and the Rabbi’s house should be exempt, but thats it. Grow up already. It’s not only that they are not wanted, they want to not pay any taxes? That will really put the people on your side.
