New York, NY – The NYPD police inspector who pepper sprayed a fenced-in Occupy Wall Street protester has received his punishment: a shorter commute.

NYPD Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna was quietly transferred to Staten Island, where he lives.
He is now reporting to borough command as a special projects coordinator, sources said.
The job has a lower profile than his previous assignment in Manhattan South.
Bologna was docked 10 vacation days after multiple videos caught him on Sept. 24 pepper spraying a young female protester who was simply sitting on the street.
It is a demotion. Manhattan South is considered to be where officers on the rise are working.
His punishment was a demotion? Had the roles been reversed the civilian who sprayed the cop would have been beaten like a punching bag behind the precinct, lost in the system for three days and then faced serious jail time for assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, weapon possession and a long list of other bogus charges.
Is it any wonder that NYers are often more afraid of the police than of the criminals?
Right, let him spray his neigbours
Please more pepper spray on the anarchists.
I agree with #3. If it was a patrolman who sprayed that female, his punishment would have been much more severe. Again, it is the good old boy’s network, looking to protect their own. Also, if it was a civilian who sprayed the cop, he would have been beaten to a pulp, in addition to having felony criminal charges filed. The only time that the NYCPD punishes their own severely, is when the complaint arises within the Internal Affairs Unit. Otherwise, when a complaint emanates from outside the department, it is handled with a lack of concern. How come the great Ray Kelley did not speak out against that sadistical Inspector? I saw the tape of the girl screaming in agony from that spray.
When it comes to demonstrations there should be a complete outside review of how the NYPD handles demonstrations. During the Republican Convention in 2004 the police penned in innocent civilians and arrested them en masse! This is like a fascist police force. While the NYPD does a lot of great work, they need to be better trained and supervised when it comes to crowds.
