This was the result of a brawl between Gerre Hasidim and “sikrikim” over turf control of “Batei Varshe.” The beating victim was a member of the “sikrikim” gang.

it’s about time these gangsters get exposed for what they are. i’m afraid to write the name of the kehila they belong to because the editor won’t publish my comment.
i assumed that VIN has been warned by the Komendantin not to dare mention a word of the violence caused by their followers and therefore we only get pictures of the mass protest without any indication what it’s all about.

All I can say is that we have the nicest neighbor living in our building. That by mistaken identity was beaten up about a half year ago. He was walking on the street and he is very nizhar with lashon horah and has a thing to always pick up pashkivil and throw it in the garbage without reading it. So that night he innocently and goodwillingly walked around picking up pashkivilin which happened to be against the sikririm (whatever they’re called) and a few bachurim came and beat him up. He was unconscious and they literally sliced his foot in half. People were so shocked at this story. For the next few months after his surgeries he went thru physical therapy and was wheeled in a wheel chair. You can still see him limping with a stick. The chassidus of these animals wanted to pay him money so that he doesn’t make a police report. But the power they have over the city hall here is tremendous and evverything they do gets pushed under the rug. So too, with this person. They have a way of winning over everyone and I guess this group of pple decided that they won’t allow themselves to be controlled by them. And they are by the way the reason yerushalayim has an irreligious mayor.

finally, maybe this will lead to some criminal convictions

but sadly if they do not turn these criminals in to secular courts I not sure what good this will do. We have seen in other situations that sadly it really does not do anything since the criminals go unpunished even if there are protests

Nice to see the yerushalmi community has a backbone to stand up to terror. If only people in new york would stand up to terror in new square and monroe

There has been a growing tendency to attribute some of these violent attacks to Gerre chassidim. This is an outright slander. The Gerre Rebbe, Rav Alter, Shlita, and the Gerre chassidus are known as the most peaceful and pacifist of all chassidim. They are sometimes confused with other chassidus but this should not be an issue since Gerre wear hoyzn-zokn and a spodik rather than Shtreimlach so there should be no confusion. These attacks are totally contrary to the teachings of Rav Alter.,shlita.

    The headline is misleading!
Read the signs being held in the pictures.
This demonstration is in support of the violent sikrikim who are against Gur in their fight over real estate. Change your headline!!!

To protest when a someone who practices violence to others is finally on the other end of a beating is not a protest against violence, but in support of violence.

After seeing this demonstration in support of the sikrikim, no one can honestly say that these gangsters are are only a few bad apples not supported by many in the community.

unfortunately if people are not willing to go to the police and if the police are not willing to arrest when and if somebody does report them (do not need feces thrown at them)

    this is the only outcome

Rabbosai – get the facts straight. This has nothing to do with Ger. The apartments in question belong legally to Rabbi Meir Baal Haness Kolel Polin. Because they rented it for many years to Meah Shearimniks, who now refuse to relinquish the apartments – the sikrikim are waging a war against Ger (as if the were the owners). Then these sikrikim went on Hoshana Raba night and cemented closed the door of the Gerre Rebbes sons apartment. So now the sikrikim are trying to blame Ger for their violence. For shame on them.
and that are the real facts – check it out.

Why don’t the Israeli cops and the IDF patrol Mea Shearim, to prevent violence? If they can do so on the West Bank, are they that intimidated, to refrain from doing so in the areas where the violence is taking place? If Arabs were attacking Jews in a specific area, the place would be saturated with Shin Bet, and other security forces. Do the politicians have the Israelis so shaken up, that they look the other way, when these incidents occur? What is Netanyahu’s and Peres’ positions regarding these criminal acts? Have they even issued public statements condemning the violence?

I am very familiar with this neighborhood as I have mishpacha I was very close to, who live on rehov Avodat Yisrael. Hasidei Gur are very pro-Agudah and they have served proudly in the IDF since the very beginning of the medina. In the eyes of some zealots, this makes them “Tzionim” and “chilonim”

Please don’t fool yourself or try to fool others or try to save face by misinformation. Let’s see when Camp Schneller is up with new buildings the percentage of Non-gerrers that also have their kehillos, yeshivos and chassidus in the area get an apt. there. Let’s go thru all the machlokes of changing zoning laws or buying rooftops off pple while with enough pull in the iriya and first hand access making innocent pple sign their whole rechush off while pretending they’ll gain from it. Go from North to South and east to West of Eretz Yisroel and lets see where and with whom Gur did not make a machloke when it came to money or property. South: Arad: Gur verses Chabad. East: Kollel Polin and the whole geula area; please speak to any non gur person hear, they’ll all have stories to say. West: Ashdod: I know the principal of the school located next to gur and her schools court case about gur seizing her property in addition to many others that will have what to add. The list goes on and on….. Don’t get the rebbe involved here cus he partially or mostly even has no idea that his chassidim are behaving in this crooked path. Although he should be made aware of it.

The only one i can agree with is number 18. This isn’t a cohesive group of many members from both sides. This is one side of a brawl who got beat down so now they are demonstrating against the other side. Not against violence.

The nomenclature is irrelevant. Ger, Shmer. A yid that acts like an Italian mafioso needs to get baptized and get out of Judaism. They’ve already converted to idolatry bmaasav, let them formalize the relationship with their idol of choice.

can someone just say clearly, in complete English sentences (transliterating only the names of the groups please), what happened, so that everyone can understand what happened? The Yeshivish/Hebrew transliterations are destroying my comprehension skills!!! I am just so lost.
    -who are the shikrim?
-what does that have to do with Gur?
    – who are protesting here and why?
not to spread L”H, but so I can know who not to say what to… I know Chasidim, Misnagdim ect and are friends with people from all across the spectrum! But I don’t want to say the wrong thing to the Gurer chasid ect…

Not all yerushalmimi in meah shearim are neturei karta, not all neturei karta are violent; they are actually currently divided in two; the more passive group and the nuts that pose with Iran. Please everybody, don’t be ignorant. This machloke is ages old and i’m sure there’s both sides to the story but a) when your violent; which we now see gur has been a few times this year with this machloke- you automatically become wrong B) As a peaceful not political person I don’t know why I’m forever hearing terrible stories of deceit and geneiva and shiflus and chillul hashem coming from gur. Of course there are some peaceful chassidim like my brother’s in law but generally the youth there is out of control. the guy that was beaten up yesterday is a regular looking yeshivish guy that happens to be living in those disputed housing. There is no way of defending violence. Argue with a person on the street and even if he may be wrong; dare you lift your hand on him and your arrested. Too many hands were lifted by one chassidus in many cities around eretz yisroel and that has to stop. Gur in BP is very temimus’dig they live far away and only hear the nice stuff.
