Goshen, NY – Orange County To Create Alert Network For Sewer Smells

Goshen, NY – Under a new county policy, officials in each municipality that uses the Orange County sewage treatment plant in Harriman will be alerted whenever there is a complaint about sewer odors.

The county is sending letters to the municipalities this week, informing them of the new “community alert protocol” and asking which officials should be contacted. The initiative follows years of complaints about sewer smells in the Village of Monroe. [record]
