New York – Gov. Cuomo Says He Will Not Rest Until Gay Marriage Pass in ‘Every State’

    26

New York – Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who choreographed the successful push this year to win legalization of same-sex marriage, received a standing ovation that lasted for more than a minute from supporters of the group, the Empire State Pride Agenda at a gala dinner for the state’s largest gay rights group.

Shifting his sights beyond New York in a way he has not done before, Mr. Cuomo demanded that the federal Defense of Marriage Act be repealed. His voice rising in intensity as he spoke, he also called for federal legislation that would bar discrimination against gay men and lesbians in housing and employment.

And in his most forceful terms to date, Mr. Cuomo called for his counterparts across the country to embrace what he framed as an issue of equal rights and to push for the legalization of same-sex marriage in their own statehouses.

“We need marriage equality in every state in this nation,” Mr. Cuomo said. “Otherwise, no state really has marriage equality, and we will not rest until it is a reality.”

There are some states in the south and midwest where gay marriage is not nearly as popular and idea as it is in New York. Cuomo will have a tough time convincing more conservative sates to adopt their own version of New York’s landmark gay marriage legislation.

My former great state of New York, with it’s sputtering economy and out of control taxes, has a Governer whose sole focus is to make sure gay marriage spreads across the country.
In most out of town states this behaviour is still illegal and an abomination. Get yourself and mishpachos out of town and your quality of life will improve. There are still challenges and obsticales but you will have a life.
Oh, and thank G-D it is easier to get a gun license and protect yourselves.
    A gitte vuch un chodesh.
P.S. Does anyone remember what Bob Grant would call Cuomo Sr.?

In every state where the issue was brought before the voters it was voted down. With the moral decline, we can expect the end of the US as a superpower.
As god fearing jews we know that good cannot flourish amid such public approval of immorality.

LOL, Good luck with that Cuomo. What does he think he is, king?

There was a vote in MIssissippi in 2004 to ban gay marriage. It was approved with 84%!!!

Rabbi Yehuda Levin has his work cut out for him. However, wuth the help of the Rebono shel olam, Andrew Coumo will fail. Further, as he did during his campaign, his daughters will march in the Low Life Parade – because they’ve joined the low life society of low lives. Mazel Tov Andy, you got your wish.

Who does he think he is … David Weprin?

I just love it how many of the hypocrites who supported Turner in the recent election enthusiastically supported Cuomo in the gubernatorial election, knowing his liberal stance on social issues. If social issues are the be-all and end-all for the frum community (which seemed to be the case I heard from some people with respect to the Turner-Weprin race), then they should have either supported Paladino or stayed mum. Make up your mind.

And although I heavily disagree with him on many issues, I give Yehuda Levin a lot of credit for being consistent on this one.

Maybe our governor should focus on New York State and ignore other states and their laws.

The Midwest state that I live in, voted gay marriage down, overwhelmingly! For some reason, Cuomo thinks that his brand of morality, applies everywhere. In the real world, it doesn’t work that way! The gay community may have the politicians intimidated in certain states, but not in the majority of states, pertaining to this issue!

I never thought we would see the day where New York is considered more liberal and out of control than California. At least in that state, the people got to vote and vote they did to keep ss marriage out of their state. So long as our politicians keep it out of our hands, they control it all. He should be punished from above before he does more damage.
