Rockland County, Hillburn, NY – About 70 firefighters from two counties are battling a fire up the mountains west of the village near the reservoir.

It's the second day firefighters have tried to beat down the flames. About 50 acres have burned, Hillburn Fire Chief Shane Starr said from the scene today.
Volunteers from the Hillburn, Suffern, Sloatsburg, Tallman, Monsey, South Spring Valley and Pine Island, Orange County, departments are on the scene.
"This morning they were getting worse," Starr said of the winds. "Right now they're dying down and we're jumping on it and doing a pretty good job." [LoHud – VIN]
