    18

Washington – Each year, the Jewish Daily Forward lists 50 influential Jewish leaders in the U.S. This year, the list includes politicians like Rep. Gabrielle Gifford and Anthony Weiner, as well as activists, scholars and religious figures.

The honorary 51st on the 2011 list is President Barack Obama, a Christian whose politics have elicited a range of responses from American Jews. Some continue to support the Democratic president (who appointed a number of Jewish staffers, including fellow Forward 50 honoree Rahm Emanuel).

“Support him, loathe him or feel wildly ambivalent — whatever you think of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States has done more than any other non-Jew we can think of to shape the American Jewish story in 2011,” wrote the Forward, a historically liberal publication.

Wait- Obama is Arab or Jewish? White or Black? This is getting confusing…

A has-been president “honored” by a has-been paper–so pathetic I almost feel sorry for the both of them.

It seems like the Forward is Backward.

What was Weiner honored for? marrying a Muslima whose mother is the head of teh Muslim Sisterhood? For showing off his bris milah?
Obama has done as much for American Jews as Hitler did for European Jews and The Mufti did for Jews.
These people are sick court Jews with a shtetl mentality, kissing the poritz’s tochas AFTER the poretz sends his thugs to beat him up

The “Backward” does it again… with “logic” like this Adolph Hitler should have been the most influential Jewish leader in 1939. How idiotic!

He only made the list because Bin Laden and Khaddafi are gone. They would have been better choices.

Giffords is not jewish either. As for Obama, “influential” in a very bad way

Quote: “whatever you think of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States has done more than any other non-Jew we can think of to shape the American Jewish story in 2011”.
Can you explain a few examples of how he shaped the US Jewry? I really don’t see it- at all. What were his contributions? What’s the background to support such a conclusion?
