Brooklyn, NY – The man accused of killing a young Hasidic boy and carving up his corpse will have to face trial in Brooklyn after an appeals court skewered his bid for a change of venue.

Levi Aron sought to move his murder and kidnapping trail to Suffolk County or, failing that, The Bronx, citing considerable media attention to the murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, who had gotten lost in Bough Park on his first trip home alone from day camp and died at Aron’s hands in July 2011.

The Appellate Division ruled that the trial should stay in Brooklyn, but said the defense could re-apply after the jury pool was questioned.

My patience is running out. How long will they shlep this, making a joke out of the whole trial?
Mr. Levy admitted that he killed leiby a”h and his lawer now argues that he never said it. Let the court investigate this, which should take about 30 days, and finalize the case.
I want this to be over by the end of 2011.

Why do we need such a headline? The defense will claim that Levi Aron cannot get a fair trial because everyone is calling him “butcher/murderer/sicko” etc. Just say his name and let the judge or jury find him guilty and then call him what you want!!

Having a trial in Brooklyn is a punishment as well. Keep in mind that if you attend the trial do not park illegally otherwise your car will be full of stickers. Anti Semites!

sweet, innocent Leiby was killed in the butcher’s father’s home, if the father is as “normal” as you all claim, why hasn’t he come out and apologized or something? I blame the family too, maybe it’s not right to do that, but why are they working so hard to protect him? they were all in the house when it happened, did they really not know anything???

how can one blame the father or family for levi aron

do you have prove they they knew he kidnapped the boy or they knew he tried it before.

people who knew him taught he was weird but did not think he was violent or capable of such a crime.

People like him are very rare and are hard to detect since they do not show any outward tendency for violent behavior just a social misfit.

Unless can can prove that the family knew something, like maybe he tortured animal like Jeffrey Dalmer or Micheal Meyers ( For movie buffs) there was no indication at all that he was capable of such actions

Interestingly. people want to blame the father yest no one want to blame the rebbies that know about abuser and do nothing or rebbies who knew and did nothing and even protected abusers or like ger flew him to Israel and even gave him a job with kids somehow they get a pass

    strange

This man is a monster! Perhaps we should all stop calling him “Butcher” (that includes myself), seeing as how we could potentially be sullying the good name of many fine, frum butchers!

Let’s call him what he is: a monster. He can’t be anything other than that, because a human being, he is not. He is not a “person” that can be understood, so there’s no point in trying. He just needs to be locked up forever.

The most important thing is making sure that his family is well-cared for, that they have the FULL support of their community (ie: no people asking “Why did they let him walk alone?! & c’v’ blaming the parents), and to do our best to protect & watch over our own children, as well as our neighbors, so that something like this NEVER happens again!

But the man is no “butcher”. Butchers are good, decent folks, just trying to make a living. Let’s all call him what he is: a MONSTER.

I think about poor Leiby’s family all the time… how this will be their 1st Hanuukah without him, how he was their only child who didn’t start school at the end of the summer, etc. It’s little things like that, which are probably the most devestating for them.

So let’s all focus on them-thanx

Butcher is an honest trade. I lived in a place where the shoichet cut the meat himself, and believe me, you need a skilled butcher to properly prepare meat. Do not demean the trade, or even craft, of butchery by calling Levi Aron a butcher. He is a psychopathic killer, not an honest tradesman without whom we’d be eating dreck mit feffer every Shabbos.

Please stop saying “the family wants him off the hook.” If he is found “not guilty by reason of insanity” then he will be incarcerated in a facility for the criminally insane, in many cases these institutions are worse than prison.

Doesn’t this simply open up the possibility for a successful appeal on grounds of an unfair trial?
