New York – The Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York City are preparing for the possibility of a punishing winter by erecting tents designed to withstand frigid temperatures.

Some of the military grade tents are as big as tiny cottages. They began popping up Monday, with the first planned for medics and another designated as a safe space for women.
Protester Jeffrey Brewer says three tents have been erected in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park and he’s helping to install four more. He says another 20 are being ordered.
Brewer says the tents are costing the protesters about $25,000 total. He says they’re paid for through donations the Wall Street protest group has received.
The company that owns the park where the protesters have set up camp doesn’t allow tents but hasn’t been enforcing the rule.
This is utterly insane and so are the people involved! Why is the owner of this park allowing this to happen? They must also be wacked out socialists.
You may not agree with all their positions but they are showing the resolve to engage in this effort for a long time. If you want to contribute, their website provides a listing of items they need. The right wing Republican focus on the anti-semitic antics of a few demonstrators are exaggerated and not indicative of the large majority of demonstrators. Note that even these liberals acknowledge the importance of having separate tents for men and women.
A domestic Insurrection in December, I can hardly wait! Wow Ma, they are really doing it! The forces of nature are such that they can occupy Wall Street and leave a small stain on the dish of life. Good bye Occupy! Don’t let the September sunlight die out!
Military-style tents. Hmmm, what’s next? Flags? Military-style trucks? Ammo? Marches?
where and when do these people bathe? they will breed body lice and whoknowswhat other diseases in this city! by now, we’ve all heard their socialist ranting and ravings. time to go find jobs and get a life.
What do you mean “will” breed? Just take a look at them now. Would you invite any of these urchins into your back yard?
One of these vermin will undoubtedly sue the owners of the park and the city for not protecting them. You’ll see. The owners of the park will claim the city didnt allow them to oust the vermin, and the city will counterclaim that the park owners didnt enforce the ‘no tent’ rule. And this will clog up the courts and cost untold money that the city cd hv better spent catching child predators.
Ahh New York……………..the land of the bleeding heart! One of the nation’s most populist states, and they are going broke!
So all these people will be sleeping in just a few tents? Watch the amount of attacks and thefts increase astronomically. Whether they report them or not is a different story.
its cheaper to go to protest then to work you get food and shelter for free no grocery bill or rent lets open a shiel ill be the rabbi with a small cheder all welcome
I think a lot of you who are against the OWS are the ultimate hypocrites. Many of you have no problem milking the system for food stamps and Section 8 subsidies while at the same time espousing the conservative Republican propaganda against them. Look hard in the mirror and you may see a reflection of what these people really stand for.
Get a job!
Doesn’t look like Avraham’s tent.
They are a breeding ground for bed bugs and head lice.
