Washington – Will President Obama lose the Jewish vote after complaining about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu? Probably not.

This latest snafu follows Obama’s May 2011 remarks calling for Israel to withdraw to pre-1967 borders as part of a Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement. Obama tried to get British Prime Minister David Cameron to exert similar pressure on Israel, without success.
And in September 2010, Obama suggested a freeze on Israeli settlements.
Meanwhile, Obama has been far less vocal in calling on the Palestinians to recognize Israel’s right to exist and to halt repeated rocket attacks and suicide bombers against Israel.
But Jews are surprisingly short-sighted in their choice of political leaders. Seventy-eight percent voted for Obama in the 2008 presidential elections, and the vast majority are registered Democrats.
Reform and Conservative movements vote Democrat as a matter of liberal faith—even though liberal dogma frequently clashes with Jewish law and is against Jewish self-interest.
Norman Podhoretz, author of Why Jews are Liberals, explained it this way in an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal in 2009,
‘The upshot is that in virtually every instance of a clash between Jewish law and contemporary liberalism, it is the liberal creed that prevails for most American Jews. Which is to say that for them, liberalism has become more than a political outlook. It has for all practical purposes superseded Judaism and become a religion in its own right.’
Obama is going to clean up in 2012. Wait and of course, see. I do not believe that Mr. Obama made a gaffe and he surely is not hate filled or obscene. I do think that the comment he made is being twisted by the right wing of our society. Mr. Obama is presidental and forthright. And I am sure that Torah supports a liberal president.
Actually, there is a far simpler reason that the comment will not cause him to lose the Jewish vote — most liberal, non-Orthodox AmericanJews unfortunately agree with Obama and his opinion of Netanyahu.
They are far more interested in Netanyahu being replaced than Obama, and probably see this as a good thing, in that it will give left-wing Israelis “proof” that Netanyahu is the the problem and must be voted out.
slowly but surely his true color and religion is coming out – REMEMBER TO VOTE REPUBLICAN in Nov 2012 – we need a strong America and strong allies, not a weakened America and someone who supports our enemies.
Obama won’t be hurt by this incident because many Jews have left him before this incident. This incident confirms what most Jews already know. I never voted for Obama and I will never vote for him no matter he does. This country can do better and does need better.
This shows that if reelected Obama will have no reason to help Israel. I don’t now and I will never trust this man. We must get Obama out of harm’s way. This country can do better. Obama means that there are no jobs, no housing, no health insurance, no hope, no future, higher taxes, more welfare people, more illegal immagrants, more theft on wall street, more liberalism, more broken promises, more solar heating units, no oil, more wind power, higher energy costs etc.
Seems like from the comments here that Bibi is representing the Torah, therefore when Obama is bashing Bibi, the Torah – lehavdil elef alfei havdolos – automatically becomes degraded, no words to reply for this insanity
In short American Jews are so short-sighted they would have voted for Hitler in Germany, too
If the democrats (Reform and Conservative Yidden) are against Torah, than why every single orthodox politician Dov Hikind, Sheldon Silver etc in USA history are a Democrat? The simple answer is that the Democratic Party represents all Frum jewish concerns. Help your fellow jew. Soc.Security, Medicaid, Pelt Program and now Healthcare etc. Without the Democratic Party and its values we couldnt stay in USA
