Ahmed Ferhani’s attorneys filed papers Wednesday. They say hate-crime charges and a rarely used state terrorism law have been misapplied. They allege police entrapment.

Prosecutors have until January to respond.

They’ve said Ferhani and co-defendant Mohamed Mamdouh told an undercover detective they wanted to strike a synagogue. They were arrested in May. Authorities said Ferhani bought guns, ammunition and an inert hand grenade in a sting.

Mamdouh’s lawyer is expected to file papers Nov. 30 asking for his case to be dismissed.

The two have pleaded not guilty to charges including weapons possession as a terror crime.

Why would they have all these weapons? They should not let them get away with it.

He’s there lawyer, just doing his job. Bet he feels they should sit in jail.
Or, if they could defend these guys, they probably want them to go free . . . so they can try again…

“Lawyers for a man accused of scheming to blow up New York City synagogues are asking a judge to throw out what they call an overblown case.”

Overblown?! OVERBLOWN?! With all those weapons, how could the case be “overblown”?! This is crazy!

Stuff like this needs to be nipped in the bud, before it becomes out of control! Even just *planning* on terror needs to be dealt with harshly, so as to set the example for other idiots planning on hurting innocent people! Especially many Jewish folks!

Something like this shouldn’t just be thrown out as “overblown”! Or what will be ok next?! I’m pretty sure if I wanted to plan on blowing up the new Twin Towers memorial… I’d be thrown in jail & my family investigated for a LONG time! And it would be the right thing to do!

There should be a law that if it is overturned and they then go and do the crime, the judge and lawyers get executed.
