But it’s so commonplace today, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is considering a plan to collect saliva samples from the scene of each disgusting crime to catch the spitters, reports CBS 2’s Dave Carlin.

It happened to bus driver Lesley Davis. She was attacked by a young woman rider who did not like being told to stand behind the line.

“She would leave me a gift before she left the bus. She spit on me,” Davis said. “I felt violated.”

I have a very hard time feeling sorry for the MTA bus drivers. They do seem to instigate alot of these provocations and not to mention are quite nasty and rude.

I understand that there are some that are nice and do a good job but they make the rest of them look bad.

What a funny system. They can’t teach in the public schools any “midos” because it is considered to be religion and it must be separation of state and church. But when someone is violating any thing they will be punished.

As a child in the 60’s it was not unheard of for a driver to skip the stop when you were waiting there with a Yarmulke. I remember the tears it caused on cold Sunday mornings. In the early 80″s I witnessed a driver doing this and reported it to the TA with all the details. They actually got back to me months later and stated that he was sorry, was not sure it happened but it might have happened and that there would be no action because he had since suffered a personal family tragedy.
I have little sympathy for these bus drivers.

I agree with #1 . I’ll never forget the time years ago, when I asked a NYC bus driver in Brooklyn for a transfer and he yelled very loudly at me “PUT THE MONEY IN”. He could have addressed me in a more civil matter. Other times, I’ve experienced bus drivers intentionally driving pass my stop, even though I pulled the signal several times. Another time, I saw a bus driver close the door on someone as he was getting on, and state “I CAN’T BE A MIND READER”. Once, a bus driver gave me the wrong transfer, and yelled after me “HEY JOHNNY”, GIVE IT BACK”. It is more pleasant to ride the NYC subways, than have to put up with those farbisen and mean NYC bus drivers.

This week i had a story that the bus driver didnt stop by a stop claiming that i didnt ring (unfortunately i did ring he didnt realise) and even though i was standing right next to him and he saw that i wana go down and i was even telling him that i wanna go down right when he passed the stop… Isn’t he deserving a spit…

What are they going to do? Stop the bus and take DNA samples from every passanger to match it up to whats on the bus drivers face?
Sounds to me like a lot more money will be wasted on testing and investigating. (add it to the GPSes and all the other wasted money)
Just put a full partetion so noone can spit on the driver!
