Israel – Teachers in ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) schools will from now on be paid as if they had a bachelor’s degree even if they do not, while instructors in Haredi teachers’ seminaries will no longer be required to have academic degrees, according to a new agreement between the Education Ministry and a group of Haredi rabbis known as the Rabbinical Education Council.

Until now, teachers with an academic degree earned higher salaries. The Education Ministry had long granted the same salary increase to Haredi teachers who had a “bachelor’s equivalent,” but now, even this will not be necessary: All graduates of Haredi seminaries will be paid as if they had a bachelor’s, as long as they teach only in Haredi schools.
The ministry also canceled the rule that instructors in Haredi teachers’ seminaries must have an academic degree. Instead, instructors will now be required only to have “expertise” in their subject. [haaretz]
and thats what kind of education you get as if you got one
whoops! here go many more kids off the derech–yes. it does have a lot to do with proper training–and not with idealistic ambitions. all in the name of FRUMMER than thou. why should they get the same money as someone who put in koachos upon koachos? yes, i forget, women are NOT permitted to get a higher education. how remiss of me. i keep forgetting that women belong at home and NOT c”v where they actually might get ahead in their life.
I guess they’ll have to raise the tuition to make up for the pay raise to the unqualified teachers.
The powers that be are looking to humiliate and devalue the efforts of teachers who committed the sin of getting adequate training for their profession by putting them on par with uneducated nincompoops…
How Orwellian! Or is it Kafkaesque?
Whichever reference fits, this policy is sure to go right over the heads of these backward fools.
and then u wonder why they hate the chareidim
