Washington – Israel Refuses to Tell Obama its Iran Intentions

    41

The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz with IDF militayWashington – Israel has refused to reassure President Barack Obama that it would warn him in advance of any pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, raising fears that it may be planning a go-it-alone attack as early as next summer.

The US leader was rebuffed when he demanded private guarantees that no strike would go ahead without White House notification, suggesting Israel no longer plans to “seek Washington’s permission”, sources said.

The disclosure, made by insiders briefed on a top-secret meeting between America’s most senior defence chief and Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s hawkish prime minister, comes amid concerns that Iran’s continuing progress towards nuclear weapons capability means the Jewish state has all but lost hope for a diplomatic solution.

“a top-secret meeting…” the “insiders” who are leaking this info should be relegated to the “outside.”

Guys, let’s be somewhat realistic. Israel does not have the courage to act on its own without consulting first the usa and getting its assurance for support and defence assistance in case of retaliation by iran which we all don’t doubt that it will happen and how. Israel fears iran and rightfully so.

Israel is sadly in a very difficult situation. But, their arrogance is still on their forefront. Amazing

Israel should do what it needs to protect its citizens. Period. If Americas gotta prob, let them figure out a way where Israel is safe- until then Israel fends for itself

That is only a playing game between the USA and Israel, everything is coordinated together if something will be done to Iran

(reply to #5 ): and if they would’ve had Russian missiles would they have to ask permission from Russia?! It’s totally irrelevant from where the planes etc. come from. The only reason that they should confirm with Washington before they strike is the fact that the US will probably suffer as a result of the strike.

I don’t believe it. This is simply a way for the USA to have some deniability when Israel attacks.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the U.S government “leaked” this so that if/ when Israel attacks they could say “we didn’t know”! Does anyone actually think that the real content of a “top secret meeting” would be in the news?

This is also an attempt to obfuscate. America can claim it had no knowledge of Israeli intentions, and perhaps have more leverage with arab neighbors.

the point is, is that the US should not be insisting that Israel coordinate before defending itself. If the relationship between Israel and the US were really good (which it is not under the current administration) then sure, they could coordinate. But that does not mean to say that Israel has to wait until the US gives it “permission” to defend Israel’s interests. That is where the dependence has to stop. in a case of an emergency Israel doesn’t have to check with the US first.

Does the Israeli gov’t realize how dangerous an *uncoordinated* attack on Iran could be for us here in the USA?! Not only has Iran promised to bomb American interests if they are attacked, but they’ve also promised to bomb others who are our allies… and we need to think about them & their safety as well! Why does Israel get to defend itself at the expense of everyone else around them?!

Not to mention, the raid on Osama Bin Laden was done w\a group of Navy Seals! It’s not like we went into Pakistan with full troop support on the ground & started bombing them left & right! (lol) You can’t even compare the two!

Our Osama Bin Laden raid is pretty much comparable to the raid carried out by Israel when that boat went into their territory! And most of us here in America supported that raid! (Except for a handful of numbskulls who always stand against Israel.) So it’s not like we’re saying Israel can’t defend itself EVER without consulting us 1st

This is why some here in America think we ought to STOP giving the Israeli gov’t $ all together! Especially when they take the $… and then bad-mouth us over here & complain so much!

Personally, I believe in Israeli aid, ok?

    But…

I don’t think that EY will attack Iran. However, assuming that an attack takes place, since EY and the USA are closely intertwined, it is impossible for an attack of this nature to take place without the other side being informed, either directly or indirectly. For example, in case one of the fighter jets from the Israeli Air Force runs into trouble on the way back, and the pilot has to be rescued, the USA would have to be informed, in an effort to coordinate rescue operations. For example, if there were air-sea rescue operations in the Persian Gulf, the U.S. Navy would become involved.

to all of the above – Israel does not have to tell the US before the bombing. Theyu’ll be notified as the bombing occurs. America should beef up their military and arms and become the “strongest” country in the world as it once was – instead of cutting back on its defense project. That way USA will be ready in a minute’s notice.

Since Netanyahu is such a tough guy he should stand up tp Obama and refuse to accept one more penny of US aid until Obama stops asking to be advised of an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities in advance.

That will show sure show Obama who is the real boss!

Come on! Don`t you all see that it`s all just a play of words and false messages going back and forth by the stupid media. Israel, The United States, and NATO forces are all in together with all this. just hold on wait and see. Also don`t be surprised to see the saudis and its allies joining together with NATO and Israel as well.

Mr. President – we’re trying to lighten your workload since you replied to Sarkozy that “you have to deal with him (Netanyahu) every day.”
