New York, NY – The NYPD will soon flood the subway system with dozens of additional decoy officers in an attempt to stem the 16 percent increase the city has seen thus far this year in thefts on trains, The Post has learned.

The exact number of officers being dispatched wasn’t revealed, but the backup is expected to more than double the number of cops currently conducting the stealthy underground operations, sources said.
This is nothing but window dressing. As an long time NYC resident, I can attest that this has occurred before. In 1964, the NY Daily News ran a series of stories about crime on the subways. There were horrible, and heinous incidents which took place. Finally, in 1965, Mayor Wagner ordered that the then NYC Transit Police staton one cop on every subway train, and one on every station from the hours of 8PM-4AM. This worked well, and when President Nixon ran for office in 1968, he noted that crime in the NYC subways decreased by 66%, since the cops were placed on the subways. However, in an economy move, that detail was removed in 1974. Now, after 37 years, the city fathers are finally waking up, and considering adding more cops to the trains. Mark my words; when the noise dies down, they will remove them again!
All this means is they will start giving more tickets for feet up on the seats and littering…
