Mayor Bloomberg met with Building Commissioner Patricia Lancaster to discuss improving standards and enforcement in the agency, Deputy Mayor Daniel Doctoroff said. “There is no intent to allow anyone to violate the law,” Doctoroff said, and that the city is adding more building inspectors.
Doctoroff also said that Bloomberg inherited an understaffed and inefficient Building Department rife with corruption. “We have made substantial progress,” he insisted. [NY Daily News]
