The new super-slow speed limit applies to a few dozen residential blocks between Southern Blvd. and West Farms Road in the Claremont section of the Bronx.

The Slow Zone in Claremont features nine speed bumps and 28 signs indicating that the speed limit has been reduced from the usual 30 mph.

Residents who feel menaced by traffic can request a Slow Zone for their own neighborhood at nyc.gov/dot.

    Bloombergs war on motorists continues.

This actually creates more frustrated drivers and traffic. It will increase noise and accidents.

The city is becoming hell for any person wanting to drive a car. It’s either you get a bike or you take out the horse and buggy.

20 MPH on city streets is very good, a lot less accidents will happen , Should change it all over atleast in the very populated with a lot of children areas . Like Wmsbg and BP etc

    not crazy about this idea

but on block with many kids, school, or yeshiva it would make much safer and reduce accident and if there is an accident less damage

This is great for all those government officials and fleet vehicles who drive hybrid cars. i.e. a Prius who’s gas engine does not kick in until exceeding 20mph.

Haha what a joke! Brooklyn is known to have speed limits just for the union workers! actual traffic doesn’t permit for faster! what a joke! now were all worked up on nothing! Bloomberg I guess can’t get around fast enough, he’ll stop people driving so that he can go faster! tickets, shmickets! what’s 500 dollars per pop for a lawyer? first smoking, then sweet drinks, then salt, then bike lanes, then driving hell. I don’t see anything he’s made our city any better! guiliani at least fought crime, this bum brings it on!

This should be limited to certain daytime hours when pedestrian activity is expected to be high similar to school zones during school arrival/session/dismissal hours.
