The NYPD Hate Crime Unit is investigating a swastika found yesterday in a Brooklyn building — the second time in nine days that the anti-Semitic symbol was found scrawled at the location, officials said.

The swastika was discovered inside an elevator at 70 Ross Street. The discovery in the building in Williamsburg came just hours before the Jewish Sabbath.

The same building was targeted earlier this month, when a swastika was etched into the button control panel of an elevator.

Police said the latest incident is believed to be a new act of vandalism at the building.

The Anti-Semitic incident is the third in Brooklyn within the past month.

There have been no arrests in any of the incidents

Police ask anyone with information in regards to these incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Swastikes in our area is not anymore shocking !!!…. It happins every week or 2 in a other building & the only results we hear: “police investigating it”… Why dont they install security cameras like they installed when i am passing a red light ?!?!?!…..

This anti semitism is terrible. But reporting it like this might be making it worse. Everytime a hate symbol shows up it gets plastered all over the news. There’s outrage. There’s marches. There’s community meetings. Imagine the satisfaction of the perpetrator seeing his handiwork all over the media. It just breeds the next attention starved psychopath to be a copycat. Now imagine if they went through all this trouble and the symbol was merely removed and it was given no further attention. Do you think it would stop? I’m not saying we should stand for this but it does seem like we’re playing right into their hands…

These copycat crimes by bored teenagers or troubled adults are not a wave of antisemitism and those seeking to escalate the issue are really paranoid or simply politicians seeking their 15 minutes of fame.
