Washington – Newt Gingrich: Leaning Toward Freeing Pollard

    7

Washington – Leading Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich became the first candidate in the race to say he would free Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard, telling CNN in an interview: “I am prepared to say my bias is towards clemency, and I would like to review it. He’s been in a very long time. But we are pretty tough about people spying on the United States.”

Gingrich’s point of view on Pollard has apparently changed since 1998 when the then-House speaker was quoted as saying that the US should not put “traitors on the negotiating table as a pawn” and demanded that then-president Bill Clinton forget about releasing Pollard.

This is just political posturing. Absolutely ridiculous. We all know they will never release Pollard, and the reasons have nothing to do directly with the State of Israel at all. Could be he saw others things that he shouldn’t have in CIA…..

To #1 - Why don’t you get your facts in order, before posting them? Pollard never worked for the CIA. He was a civilian intelligence analyst for the Naval Investigative Service.

Mr. flip-flopper Gingrich, it’s getting harder and harder to know where you stand on anything. Please do us all a favor and go back to the private sector and collect your millions of dollars in ‘consulting’ fees. Thank you in advance.
