Arutz Sheva discovered the violation of the Sabbath, when traveling is generally prohibited, and asked the Foreign Ministry for an explanation. It said that the ministry “bought a ticket for the ambassador for Saturday night (after the Sabbath ends), and the ambassador apparently advanced the flight for personal reasons.”
The ministry added it is examining the matter.
Government regulations prohibit employees and their staff from flying before the beginning and after the end of the Sabbath, even if only part of the flight occurs on the Day of Rest.
This is take a chutzpa!
Good that the country is taking this seriously
What a joke!
Israeli ambasoders are allowed to drive a car but not travel on an airplane. In fact, flying on an airplane should rather be permitted since there’s no Melachah done by the traveler; it’s akin to riding on a shabbos elevator. But then there’s an issue of going Chitz L’tchum.
kusher chazer feesel
If this guy broke protocol he should be disciplined. It happens to be in this case the protocol involves shabbos but whatever it is, diplomats have strict rules.
The Israeli ambassador to my country visited my (small) town and ate out in a treif restaurant. This is against official rules. SO don’t do it!
