About a hundred firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 1679 West 1st Street in the Midwood section of the borough at Yeshivat Ohel Torah. The FDNY got water on the flames very quickly and got in under control, officials said.
The fire had broken out in the basement of the synagogue, a chief said.
No one was hurt, the FDNY said.
West 1st Street, is not in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.
The article doesn’t mention what the fire was caused by. I hope it wasn’t a menorah that was left burning.
Is this shul still in use or is it in an abandoned building.
The fire started in the basement wnt up to the floor above it BH the main Room where the Torah is was perfect BH! Everything else the basement and main room was destroyed. It was a real miracle it didn’t happen 2 hrs later the whole shul wouldve been burnt to the ground!!
