A spokesman for Trump says the businessman and television host changed his affiliation to preserve his option to seek the presidency in 2012.

Special Counsel Michael Cohen said Friday that Trump could enter the race if Republicans fail to nominate a candidate who can defeat President Barack Obama.

He said Trump probably would use his substantial wealth to even the playing field with Obama’s re-election campaign.

Cohen said Trump’s commitment to hosting TV’s “The Apprentice” will keep him from doing anything until May, when the show’s season wraps up.

He said Trump filed his voter registration paperwork Thursday.

Donald Trump has lived a full life. He made a fortune with the boost of his father’s money. He is part showman part business man. (That’s an incorrect statement. He is a super business man. He drives the ultimate bargain.) But what will he be remembered for?! He is not a philanthropist, with an altruistic spirit like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet. He will be remembered mainly for his egocentricity. Always busy with himself. Everything turns around and about himself.

He’s absolutely unelectable and he knows it. He will never open his financials for public scrutiny. This is a stunt to once again bolster his media profile.

I don’t think that Donald Trump will ever run for elective office. He doesn’t have the thick skin to participate in a political campaign. Everytime someone criticizes him (i.e. Rosie O’Donnell), he starts threatening them with his Attorneys. Although he threatened to sue Rosie, it never happened. Further, he has a lot of baggage. For example, for years, he publicly stated that the reason that he was never drafted during the Vietnam was “was because of a high lottery number”. However, through a Freedom of Information search, it was found that he failed a medical exam, and his local draft board declared him to be 1-Y, which meant unfit for national service. Previously, he enjoyed student deferments. Trump has never stated why he failed the medical exam, or even confirmed the latter. On the positive side, he has a number of frum yidden working for him, behind the scenes. Also, he paid off the mortgage of a frum Jew, who came to his aid, when his limousine broke down on the way back from Atlantic City. The individual whomn Trump assisted, was very mechanically inclined, pertaining to automobiles. In addition to the mechanic, he has also financially helped other people.

As a Buckley Conservative, I frequently say that the only thing I hate more than a Republican politician is a Democratic politician. However, after this announcement, the Republican party just moved up a tiny bit in my book.
