New York – Violent clashes between Israel Police forces and ultra-Orthodox activists amid a public outcry over the exclusion of women from the public sphere is damaging the image of the Haredi community in the United States, Brooklyn community leaders told Haaretz on Tuesday.

“The violent clashes show Israel in a horrible light and cause a great deal of damage to its image in America,” one Hasidic rabbi, a resident of the Borough Park neighborhood told Haaretz.
New York Democratic New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind added that “if a young Hasidic man would have spat on or hurt a girl in Borough Park he would have been immediately arrested and handled in the most stern of way.”
“Incidents of harassment and injury against people of all race and creed are unacceptable and unforgivable where we are,” Hikind added.
these hoodlums are the ones that that should have their heads stomped on – – chilul hashem is much more of a stern sin than not dressing modestly (even though it is questionable if they are or are not dressed appropriately)
Why is this so called rabbi ashmed of his name? & who are thses brooklyn leaders, names please.
This is the news: Now in Beit Shemesh is the “long-awaited-for” demonstration against the radicals, and just as I predicted yesterday who’s there to “enlighten” the crowds? None other than 1) Tzipi Livni, 2) Shelly Yachamowitz, 3) Chaim Amsalem. Oh, don’t worry, these “leaders” just LOVE the Chareidim they just have a problem with the radicals – right? Guys, get it straight, these “leaders” don’t give a hoot for our good, they are all there for their own agendas.
And who’s sponsoring the event? The “Free Israel” movement!
i live in bp the cops look the other way.
If one dude spat at a girl (if he actually did), don’t label a community!
If 20-30 people protested and yelled at the secular haredi hating reporters, don’t label thousands of Beth Shemsh people for it, and definitely not an entire community.
Spitting or any physical abuse is prohibited by the torah and non of the rabbonim would approve it.
I don’t know why, when a few days ago a charedi was spat on several times by an Israeli secular woman, the pictures made its way on the web, I don’t see anybody raising the voice about it, are some people one sided, or full of hate on a certain group?
The media incitement against ALL charedim was a huge flop. The demonstration hyped by the media who also claim that thousands were there had maximum 200 people, half of them the media according to the pictures.
Everyone that isn’t an anti-semite or self-hating Jew knows that the sikrikim are a tiny minority.
Feh. I wouldn’t worry so much about Israel’s image. While Arab tyrants are butchering their own people on a daily basis, the whole world can only focus on Israel. Israel does not have an image problem – everyone hates it, and us. We need to do what’s good for us, period, because nobody else will.
So who is invading whose neighborhood now?
The tide is turning on these NK lunatics.
Lol,,, 80% of thes protestors are not keeping torah laws not observing shabbs & they will tell us how we sould keep our city beit shames jewish. BTW gm mr’ hikind long time don’t hear your anti-semitic remarks, go back to your hole & let the jewish people in isreal live ther frum life stile
I think the problem is much more fundamental. Why are these yidden so focused on themselves? Shouldn’t they be concerned about making their unenlightened brethren more observant? How can that happen when they act this way? I understand the desire to protest but imagine how much more they’d gain if it were peaceful and polite.
Issue out of a tissue ,all of a sudden chareidim spit on girls come on give me a break ,Goyim spat on me on the street so what ?did I call the whole media ? Does this frum father and mother realize what chilul hashem they are causing ? And maybe this girl didn’t dress modestly and the parents should sit down and think maybe the chareidim are right after all they claim only one chareidi of the thousands that live in Beis Shamesh spat
The stories are unfortunately true. I drove by the rally last night and you couldn’t get within four blocks of the site because of the number of people. And as much as the media has an anti-chareidi agenda, their reporting regarding the Orot school has been accurate from what I gather as well.
Just spoke to my brother in Beth shemesh, he’s so mad, he told me couple of weeks that seculars are coming into the heimishe area where they don’t live and have no business to do, they keep on calling police and media for shtuyot like a sign calling for tznius within the ultra heimishe area, they keep on teasing and harassing the frummies, 99% of the frum population ignores them, 1% is answering them with “their own language”..
