European firefighting aircraft dumped tons of water and fire retardant over blazing flames shooting from high trees Friday as an unprecedented wave of international assistance arrived to help Israeli firefighters battle the country’s worst blaze ever. A strong wind fanned flames through one of the country’s few natural forests to the outskirts of Israel’s third-largest city, Haifa.
