‘Relentless Rain’ Pummels Southern California

Southern California has been hit by a string of heavy rains, with the latest storm causing flooding,  road closures and evacuation orders in Orange County. The wet weather has swollen streams and rivers. Highways were flooded and several mudslides and rock slides were reported late Monday night and into Tuesday. On Wednesday December 22 2010 Evacuations had been ordered for 200 homes in the L.A. County foothills.
This month has already seen more than 5 inches of rain in downtown Los Angeles, putting the record of 8.77 inches for December within reach. Mammoth Mountain has experienced record December snow levels.
